Prevents most moves from hitting the user this turn.

Detect prevents the majority of all moves from harming the user in any way.
This does not include weather damage (such as sandstorm) or status conditions such as poison
Detect has greatly enhanced priority, meaning that it will go before most other moves.
If another move with the same priority is used, the Pokémon with the higher Speed will go first.
The success rate of Detect is also lowered after each time the user successfully uses either:

• Detect
• Protect
• Endure
• Baneful Bunker
• Burning Bulwark
• King's Shield
• Max Guard
• Obstruct
• Silk Trap
• Spiky Shield
• Quick Guard
• Wide Guard

Detect does not work agains the following types of moves:

• Most damaging Z-Moves (they do 25% of the original damage)
• G-Max One Blow and G-Max Rapid Flow do full damage.
• Moves that break protection do full damage and remove the Detect effect:
  • Feint
  • Hyperspace Fury
  • Hyperspace Hole
  • Phantom Force
  • Shadow Force
• The ability Unseen Fist allows contact moves to bypass Detect
• Moves used by the user that target itself
• Moves that target the user and all allies
• Moves that target all Pokémon (except Shadow Shed and Shadow Half)
• Trapping effects:
  • Spikes
  • Ceaseless Edge
  • Stealth Rock
  • Stone Axe
  • Toxic Spikes
  • Sticky Web
  • Toxic Debris
  • G-Max Steelsurge and G-Max Stonesurge

• In Gen 2 Detect fails if used by a Pokémon behind a Substitute
• In Gen 3 there is a bug that causes the moves success rate to become erratic after reaching an inteded lower bound of 12.5%
• In
  DP
  there is a bug that causes moves that bypass accuracy and evasion checks either due to the effect of another move such as Mind Reader or Lock-On or due to the weather (Thunder during rain or Blizzard during hail) or the ability No Guard to ignore Detect with inverted accuracy
  One-hit KO moves such as Horn Drill are unaffected.

This move functions identically to Protect.
