Heal Block prevents the target from restoring HP for 5 turns.
Heal Block prevents the following effects:

• A Pokémon affected by Heal Block can not use:
  • any Status move that immediately heals the user
  • Wish
  • Lunar Dance
  • Healing Wish
  • Heal Pulse
  • Floral Healing
  • or target an ally with Pollen Puff
• A Pokémon affected by Heal Block can also not be targeted by:
  • by an ally with Pollen Puff
  • Heal Pulse
  • Floral Healing
  • Wish (even if Wish was used before Heal Block)
• A Pokémon affected by Heal Block does not receive any healing effect from:
  • Black Sludge
  • Leftovers
  • Shell Bell
  • Water-type moves if it has the ability Dry Skin or Water Absorb
  • Electric-type moves if it has the ability Volt Absorb
  • Rain if it has the ability Dry Skin or Rain Dish
  • Hail if it has the ability Ice Body
  • Poison if it has the ability Poison Heal
• A Pokémon affected by Heal Block can not consume:
  • A held HP restoring berry
  • Berry Juice

A Pokémon affected by Heal Block can still use Present, Ingrain, Aqua Ring and Grassy Terrain but does not receive any healing through them.
If a Pokémon has no available moves left due to Heal Block such as having no other moves with PP remaining or being locked into a disabled move through a Choice Band, it will use Struggle instead. Heal Block can be deflected through Magic Coat and passed on through Baton Pass.
Heal Block can not prevent any healing from a Z-Move. Heal Block can not prevent the healing a Pokémon with the ability Regenerator gets from switching out. A Pokémon affected by Heal Block can use Leech Seed (but no other HP draining moves) but is not healed by them. If the target has the ability Liquid Ooze the user will still be damaged by it even if the target would not have been healed.

• In Gen 4 Heal Block can not be deflected by Magic Coat.
• In Gen 4-5 a Pokémon affected by Heal Block can use HP draining moves such as Absorb (but is not healed by it).
• From Gen 8 onwards this move can not be selected in battle.
