Effect Summary
Prevents the target from leaving battle.
Detailed Effect
Mean Look stops the target from switching out or fleeing.
This includes fleeing moves such as Teleport.
Mean Look can not hit Pokémon during the semi-invulnerable turn of moves such as Dig and Fly.
Using Baton Pass, U-Turn and Parting Shot still allow the affected Pokémon to switch out.
The switched in Pokémon is then affected by Mean Look. The effect does not continue if the user switches out with Baton Pass.
Pokémon with the ability Run Away or holding a Smoke Ball
are still able to flee (but not switch out).
Mean Look is not blocked by Protect, Detect or Spiky Shield. However, it is blocked when the target is protected by a Crafty Shield.
