Detailed Effect
Embargo disables the effects of held items and prevents using an item on the target for 5 turns.
Embargo can not disable the effect of item types that affect the following mechanics:
If the target is already under the effects of Embargo, Fling will not activate the item thrown at it.
If a Pokémon uses Judgment, Techno Blast or Multi-Attack while affected by Embargo, it will be
Normal
-type.
Embargo can not disable the effect of item types that affect the following mechanics:
- prize money such as
Amulet Coin
- experience gain such as
Lucky Egg
- effort values such as
Power Weight
- friendship such as
Soothe Bell
- type of the target Pokémon
- Mega Evolution
- Z-Moves with Z-Crystals

- In Gen 4 Embargo is not deflected by Magic Coat and fails if used against a Pokémon with Multitype.
