Detailed Effect
Shell Trap sets up a trap at the beginning of the turn.
If the user is hit by a Physical
category move, Shell Trap will is performed immediately afterwards.
Otherwise, Shell Trap is performed in the usual order and fails.
Shell Trap has decreased priority meaning that it will move after most other moves.
Encore fails if targeted at a Pokémon using Shell Trap.
If the user is affected by Powder it activates if Shell Trap activates.
Shell Trap will not be activated by:
If the user is hit by a Physical
Otherwise, Shell Trap is performed in the usual order and fails.

- being hit by an ally's move
- a Substitute taking damage

- In and Gen 9 this move can not be selected in battle.
