- In Gen 1 Explosion has 170 power.
The user will not faint if Explosion hits a Substitute or the user is protected from it. - In Gen 1-2 the user's sprite is temporarily replaced by a blank image after using the move (even if it does not cause the user to faint in Gen 1).
- In Gen 1-4 the target's Defense
is halved during the damage calculation effectively doubling the move's power.
